POSTUROLOGY AND BIOMECHANICS

Postural assessment – Centro Vertex Arezzo

Postural assessment
Posture is the position of our body in space and the way it counteracts gravity, keeping us balanced when standing or sitting.
A postural assessment is a “snapshot of the current situation” of our body, looking at the natural position it takes dynamically in space.
Good balance is known to be the result of a series of reflexes, mediated by the central nervous system, working properly and of correct input from all the body’s organs and systems.
Centro Vertex uses a leading instrument in the field: Lizard Ultimate. The Lizard Ultimate is a posturometric and stabilometric platform.
It makes it possible to assess whether or not there is a balance or posture disorder.
The test is quick and simple and consists of a series of trials lasting 51.2 seconds each.
“Lizard” is made up of two separate platforms, one for each foot, to assess the overall centre of gravity in relation to the centre of gravity of each foot. This information is sent to a computer, which turns the pressures measured by the platforms’ load cells into graphs and numerical values.

Postural re-education and exercise
Postural re-education is a discipline that can correct poor posture and prevent spinal disorders. After a careful assessment, Centro Vertex designs individual programmes to rebalance the muscular system after trauma, injury or disease. Postural re-education and exercise can help eliminate pain and restore muscle and joint function in cases of neck pain, low back pain, herniated discs, pubalgia and all the postural changes typical of growing age, such as scoliosis and thoracic hyperkyphosis.

Individual programmes
Exercises to rebalance the muscular system after trauma, injury or disease and to prevent spinal disorders; stretching for stiff, hypertonic muscles and strengthening for hypotonic muscles.
